I heard this song live last Thursday and it was amazing. It sounds a lot better live than it does on the track which I find rather rare! But the drums and backing vocals were emphasized, making a much more beautiful sound.

Clarke & Clarke Wallpaper

I was working the other day when a lady came in to choose some paint colours for a wallpaper she was considering purchasing. 

She brought in a Clarke & Clarke wallpaper book and I couldn't help but look through it with her! They were such beautiful designs, I felt like I had to blog about them.

The book I was looking at was the Clarisse collection, including other designs such as Delphine, Helena and Topiary.

Floral Friday: Kathryn Pledger

A long awaited Floral Friday has arrived as I introduce you to Kathryn Pledger.

Kathryn is a Graphic designer with a BA (Hons) in Graphic Communication. She has worked in Design Studios in Sydney, Dublin and London. Originally from Australia she is now based in London and pursuing her recent rediscovered love of surface pattern design, and freelancing in graphic design. 

"Creating surface pattern designs is a new and exciting venture for me. I have recently graduated from the online course The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design, and I am developing my portfolio and style."

Kathryn's ditsy florals are cute, beautiful and up-lifting. A great juxtaposition of using lovely light, refreshing colours, to dark and moody paintily designs. 

Kathryn talks about her inspiration for her florals:

"Having only recently followed my pent up desire to create patterns florals, it seems to be what my creative streak wants to make. I find inspiration in all the wonderful public gardens London has. One of my favourites is Myatt's Fields Park in Camberwell, it has really beautiful and colourful planting and all the patterns you see (apart from the yellow ditzy print) are directly inspired from that garden over the course of a few month. The yellow ditzy print has a special place in my heart; its the first pattern I made since I was a teenager and its based on flowers I saw on my honeymoon."

Not only is it incredibly cold out here in the UK, but layering is a great new trend. Being warm and stylish at the same time? Couldn't be better.

No Grey Area

One of the most current trends at the moment is Monochrome: and I love it.

Not only have I been admiring the trend and ripping out pages in magazines with monochrome images and looks I like, I have spent a fair amount of money on black and white items of clothing I really didn't need nor afford just to re-create the style.

I've picked out one favourite item from a couple of designers who have embraced the monochrome trend. It's not just the great contrast of colours that pleases me, it's how elegant and casual this look can be at the same time. I adore the use of different materials between the black and white garments - the different textures create a beautiful visual.

I'm sorry...

Hello! Ok, so you may notice my last post was in October 2012. This, on my part, is not good! Unfortunately, I ended up getting very busy in the run up to Christmas and was working pretty much everyday, and by the time I got home I was too tired/didn't have the time/honestly couldn't be bothered to research and write a blog post. 

But! Christmas has passed, the goose (me) got fat and I turned a year older (and wiser...?)  and finally, after 3 long months, I have returned to my blog. Since it's now a new year and the world didn't end, I figured I'd have a little spruce up. The blog is looking very different and I'm loving it. After all, change is good. 

So, since I have enlightened your life with a photo of a ridiculously cute kitten asking for forgiveness, I too ask your forgiveness for not writing anything for a long time.

I've got some really lovely things to show you though, so keep your eyes peeled in the next coming weeks :)
